The original Red Hat RPM Guide, which had been released under the Open Publication Licence is no longer available under However, a more recent revision of this document, named the RPM Guide, is available as part of the Fedora Project Documentation and is released under a Creative Commons Attribution–Share Alike 3.0 Unported license (CC-BY-SA).

This is an excellent document that covers all aspects of the Red Hat Package Management system, not only providing general RPM usage information, but also includes in depth reference to RPM package creation and other advanced topics.

You should definitely read this one.
